Angry Birds Space For The BlackBerry PlayBook Now Available

Yes you read that right, and this time we're serious. Unlike the botched psuedo-release a few weeks back, Angry Birds Space is now officially available for the BlackBerry PlayBook. The latest in the Angry Birds series brings you to outer space where you have to fight gravity in addition to the green pigs. Features include:

Angry Birds Animated Series Coming To Smartphones

52 episodes lasting between two and three minutes each are planned to be released weekly on a multitude of platforms. Starting this fall, users will be able to watch them on their smartphones with a dedicated mobile application, but the series is expected to land on smart TVs as well. Oh, and if you are wondering what happened with that feature length Angry Birds movie, don't worry as it will be released eventually. However, that is not expected to happen until 2014, and who knows whether anyone will still be launching birds at pigs by then.

Angry Birds Space Hits 10 Million Downloads In Less Than 3 Days



Rovio introduced the game to iOS and Android's Google Play on Thursday. Rovio has confirmed in a message posted to Twitter that in less than three days of availability, the company has seen more than 10 million downloads. Angry Birds Space takes the familiar birds versus pig battle into space, where the gravitational pull of Earth does not apply and each planetary body has its own gravitation. This changes the gameplay from the ground up, allowing different combinations and taking some more time to calculate the right trajectories for the space birds. Angry Birds Space Won't Land On Windows Phone



Peter Vesterbacka, chief marketing officer, at Rovio has told Bloomberg that there are no plans to release the latest iteration of the popular time sink on Microsoft's mobile platform. Despite the original game still being the most popular app in the Marketplace, Vesterbacka claims that "...it's a big undertaking to support it, and you have to completely rewrite the application." So, until a Series 40 version is confirmed, you bird slingin' Nokia fans will just have to wait. The news will be a disappointment to Windows Phone users, I’m sure. But I doubt it will be enough to convince you to switch platforms. If it is, it’s possible your Angry Birds addiction is getting out of control and we’d advise you to seek professional help.


Update: It seems as if Mr. Vesterbacka misspoke, or his comments were taken our of context. Rovio's CEO, Mikael Hed, told Reuters that "we are working towards getting Angry Birds Space to WP7," though there is no time frame set for the release yet.
