The infamous DingleBerry root that swept BlackBerry PlayBooks appears to be coming to an end. The developers of the PlayBook jailbreak have been saying the version 4.0 to root the retail version of PlayBook OS 2.0 would be releasing soon. As it turns out, their latest changelog says that their plans to release version 4.0 have been canceled.
The DingleBerry team has even decided to make their source code available for anyone to use. You can view their blog post about the source code here. It will be interesting to see what becomes of the DingleBerry root. Have they been scooped up by RIM? Or, is retail version of PlayBook OS 2.0 no longer rootable?
