Huawei Rumored To Build Tizen Based Smartwatch

According to new reports Huawei is working on a Tizen based smartwatch.

Huawei hasn't been very active in the smartwatch industry in the past. The last Huawei smartwatch was the Huawei Watch, which launched back in late 2015.

While Huawei did not officially comment on the rumor, reports claim Huawei is unsatisfied with Google's position towards Android Wear being a closed OS. Unlike with smartphones and tablets, Google restricts user interface personalization on Android Wear devices. 

Remember, this isn't the first report to argue that Huawei is looking for Android alternatives, a few months back rumors claimed that Huawei was considering making its own mobile operating system.

Huawei Open To Buying Nokia

Huawei is looking at ways to grow its business, and acquisitions are one possible avenue it might explore. One company that has made its short list of targets is Nokia. "We are considering these sorts of acquisitions; maybe the combination has some synergies but depends on the willingness of Nokia. We are open-minded," said Richard Yu, head of consumer products for Huawei in an interview with the Financial Times. Huawei has faced difficulty finding traction in the U.S. with its telecommunications networking gear business, though its handsets have found space on the shelves of U.S. wireless network operators. Yu did not indicate that Huawei and Nokia are holding formal talks, nor did Nokia comment on Yu's remarks.

T-Mobile Announces T-Mobile Prism By Huawei

T-Mobile has announced the upcoming availability of the T-Mobile Prism, their latest budget friendly option for customers who are searching for their very first smartphone. T-Mobile says the Prism will be available with flexible pricing options including no annual contract as well as two-year contract plans.

The T-Mobile Prism is a 3G devices with a 3.5″ HVGA display running Android 2.3. “The Prism allows customers to enjoy variety of entertainment and Web browsing experiences including social networking sites and thousands of applications from Google Play.”

The T-Mobile Prism will be available at Best Buy locations beginning May 6th, Walmart retail stores on May 9th as well T-Mobile retail locations nationwide, T-Mobile.com and through selection dealers beginning May 23rd.

Leaked T-Mobile Roadmap Outlines New Devices And Updates

Our friends over at TMoNews have unearthed a roadmap with some tasty morsels of info about what's coming down the pipe from T-Mobile USA in the next few months. Of course, none of this is set in stone or even confirmed, so take it with a grain of salt.

Most interesting is a pair of dates for Ice Cream sandwich updates, with Magenta's Galaxy S II slated to receive Android 4.0 on May 14th, followed by the Sensation 4G and Amaze 4G getting ICS (with Sense 3.6, presumably) on June 16th.

A bunch of device launches from Samsung and Huawei round up the list of dates, with no sign of HTC's One X, Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S III, or T-Mobile's rumored Galaxy Note variant. Sadness. Check out the entire bounty below.

T-Mobile’s New myTouch To Be Manufactured By Huawei

Huawei becoming the third manufacturer of T-Mobile’s myTouch line of phones in a year (after HTC and LG)  has pretty much been confirmed in these FCC documents found earlier today posted below. The FCC has approved the Huawei U8680, which has in several places been referred to as the T-Mobile myTouch.

Google Considering Selling Motorola Handset Division To Huawei

It has been better part of a year since Google announced its intent to acquire Motorola Mobility for $12.5 billion.  While we're still waiting for various governmental departments to officially approve the purchase, rumors have circulated as to what Google plans to do with the division.  Did Google pick them up just to rope in a ton of patents and protection?  Will they continue to let Motorola operate as a separate entity?  Would they consider selling off to another hardware maker in the end?  The answers to these questions are a little bit of 'yes'on all fronts.

Dennis Berman of the Wall Street Journal recently spent a few weeks working with people inside both Google and Motorola camps trying to figure out what's going to happen in the end.  He finds that Google definitely has their work cut out for themselves as they walk the fine line with partners in the Android space.  Leaning too far in one direction could alienate other hardware makers.

T-Mobile's myTouch Line To Be Revived By Huawei

The Magenta carrier's pumped out its fair share of myTouch handsets in the past months, and we can't blame you if you're confused by the fact that different OEMs have had their turn making the devices. Now, if a report by PocketNow is to be believed, the next phone maker in line is the same one that brought you that T-Mobile Springboard. And, if we take into consideration Huawei's recent pushtowards the US market, it wouldn't surprise us to see T-Mo's future myTouch lineup coming from the Chinese outfit. Allegedly, the device(s) will come in two Gingerbread-packing flavors, one of which is said to be sporting physical QWERTY keys - aka 4G Slide. While we know some of you are ready to part ways with the ol' timer 3G variant, it may be a while before the purported U8680 and U8730 are the real deal.

CES Huawei Announces Ascend P1 S Smartphone

Huawei unveiled the company’s latest Android-powered smartphone, the Ascend P1 S. The device features an incredibly slim design, measuring a mere 6.68mm — even slimmer than Motorola’s 7.1mm DROID RAZR. The device sports a 4.3-inch qHD Super AMOLED display with a 1.5GHz TI OMAP 4460 dual-core processor and 1GB of RAM. On the backside, the Ascend has an 8-megapixel camera with a dual-LED flash and a 1.3-megapixel front facing camera. Huawei also announced the Ascend P1, which packs similar features in a thicker 7.69mm profile. Both devices feature Corning’s Gorilla Glass and will run a clean version of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Alleged Sprint LTE Speed Test Proves Impressive

What's allegedly a set of speed tests of a computer using a Huawei-made LTE hotspot running on Sprint's LTE network has surfaced.  There's not a lot of detail, but we see speeds of over 40M/sec download and 5M/sec upload, and very nice ping times.  The tester appears to be somewhere around the Houston area, and very close to an LTE tower he doesn't have to share with anyone.  He certainly achieves cable modem style network speed, and that should make more than a few of us happy.
