Samsung Just Leaked The Samsung Galaxy Watch

CNET got a tip from a Twitter user that the official Samsung website had posted the Samsung Galaxy Watch. Well I'd be damn the name of the device, a photo, and even a model number were available for anyone to see (screenshots of Samsung's official website above).

Unfortunately, when the listing was live it was a dead link so we don’t have the leaked pricing, specs, or other photos. But this does seem to suggest that the Samsung Gear S4 is actually the Samsung Galaxy Watch and that it looks to be come in Rose Gold.

Samsung is expected to launch the Samsung Galaxy Watch on August 9 alongside the Samsung Galaxy Note 9.

Samsung Gear Fit 2 Pro Gets Revealed

Samsung has already confirmed the name of the new wearable, now we can actually see images of it thanks to Venture Beat, who revealed some of its features as well. 

Similar to the Samsung Gear Fit, the Samsung Gear Fit 2 Pro sports a curved AMOLED display and is based on Tizen OS. The new Samsung Gear Fit 2 Pro comes with 5 ATM water resistance capable of withstanding water pressures equivalent to depths of 164 feet (50 meters). 

The Samsung Gear Fit 2 Pro features music playback, supports offline Spotify playback, and improved watch style wrist band. 

Reportedly, Samsung intends to announce the Samsung Gear Fit 2 Pro on August 23rd alongside the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 smartphone and new Samsung Gear VR headset. There's no word when the Samsung Gear Fit 2 Pro will be released or how much Samsung plans to sell the Samsung Gear Fit 2 Pro for. It's safe to say the new Samsung fitness band won't cost more than the Samsung Gear Fit 2.

Huawei Rumored To Build Tizen Based Smartwatch

According to new reports Huawei is working on a Tizen based smartwatch.

Huawei hasn't been very active in the smartwatch industry in the past. The last Huawei smartwatch was the Huawei Watch, which launched back in late 2015.

While Huawei did not officially comment on the rumor, reports claim Huawei is unsatisfied with Google's position towards Android Wear being a closed OS. Unlike with smartphones and tablets, Google restricts user interface personalization on Android Wear devices. 

Remember, this isn't the first report to argue that Huawei is looking for Android alternatives, a few months back rumors claimed that Huawei was considering making its own mobile operating system.

Samsung Announces Gear Fit 2 Wearable And Gear Icon X Earbuds

Samsung today announced two new fitness wearables. The Gear Fit 2 is a second generation activity tracker with GPS and heart rate monitor. Like the original the Fit 2 has a curved, Super AMOLED touchscreen that can be used to track activity as well as check notifications.

The device can record workouts automatically and transfer fitness data to Samsung's S Health app and play locally stored music. The Fit 2 runs Samsung's Tizen operating system sports a 200mAh battery and goes on sale June 10.

The Icon X is a pair of Bluetooth wireless earbuds. Each earbud contains its own 47mAh battery. The carrying case holds another 315mAh battery to recharge the earbuds. The Icon X are activated when users place them in their ears. The earbuds are able to track distance, speed, duration, pulse, and burned calorie data, and offers voice guidance for feedback during workouts and also stores up to 1,000 songs with 4 GB of internal storage. The earbuds feature capacitive controls to make them easier to use.

The Samsung Gear Fit 2 will launch in the U.S. on June 10 for $179, while the Gear Icon X will follow later in Q3 for $199. Like the Gear S2, the devices will work with all Android phones running version 4.4 and up.

Samsung Unveils Tizen Powered Gear 2 And Gear 2 Neo Smartwatch

Samsung announce its latest Gear 2 and the Gear 2 Neo. The Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo are not Android powered, the Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo are powered by Samsung’s own operating system Tizen.

The Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo are Samsung’s latest addition to their smartwatch lineup. The watches include practically the same specs, a 1.63 inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 320×320, 1GHz dual-core processor, 512MB RAM, 4GB storage, 300mAh battery that’s rated for 2-3 days of usage and different sensors, heart rate monitor, pedometer and Bluetooth 4.0 support. 

Both watches run on Tizen and include music players as well as built-in IR blasters to control your TV through the watch. The only real difference in hardware is the Gear 2 Neo doesn’t feature a 2-megapixel camera while the Gear 2 does.

The other difference comes in color choices. The Gear 2 is available in Charcoal Black, Gold Brown and Wild Orange and the Gear 2 Neo is available in Charcoal Black, Mocha Grey and Wild Orange. Both watches are IP57 certified for dust and water resistance.

Both smartwatches are able to act independently of phones and the Tizen software does have customization features. However, many Galaxy branded smartphones will work with these smartwatches and will add additional features such as being able to accept calls, text messages and other notifications straight from your watch. Pricing details were not available but both smartwatches will be going on sale internationally in April. A heads-up, the devices look similar, but the Gear 2 has a black bar above the screen while the Gear 2 Neo simply has a small circle.
