Samsung Is Now Selling Its $2,899 Galaxy Z TriFold In The US...

The wait is over!!! Samsung foldable fans in the US have a new ultra-premium option. The Galaxy Z TriFold, Samsung’s first dual-hinged phone-tablet hybrid, is officially on sale in the US. You can buy it from Samsung Experience Stores or directly from Samsung’s online shop. The price is simple and steep: $2,899, which is $900 more than the single-hinged Galaxy Z Fold 7.

There are no choices to make, either. The Galaxy Z TriFold comes in one configuration only — 512GB of storage, finished in Crafted Black. No variants, no upsells. There’s also no pre-order phase. Samsung announced US availability just days ago, allowed fans to sign up for updates, and then skipped straight to retail. The TriFold goes on sale today, first come, first served, with no official word on how many units are headed to the US.

That matters, because the phone has already sold out multiple times in Korea. Samsung is manufacturing it in limited quantities, as it's reportedly losing money on each unit sold. If you’re a US foldable enthusiast and you actually want one, waiting might not be the smartest move. As for why Samsung is selling a phone it’s reportedly losing money on, the answer is simple. The Galaxy Z TriFold isn’t about margins. It’s a technical flex, designed to underline Samsung’s foldable leadership and put a spotlight on the foldable Galaxy portfolio.

CNET got a tip from a Twitter user that the official Samsung website had posted the Samsung Galaxy Watch. Well I'd be damn the name of the device, a photo, and even a model number were available for anyone to see (screenshots of Samsung's official website above).

Unfortunately, when the listing was live it was a dead link so we don’t have the leaked pricing, specs, or other photos. But this does seem to suggest that the Samsung Gear S4 is actually the Samsung Galaxy Watch and that it looks to be come in Rose Gold.

Samsung is expected to launch the Samsung Galaxy Watch on August 9 alongside the Samsung Galaxy Note 9.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Official Specs

Image result for samsung galaxy note 8 logo

Samsung has unveiled its new flagship smartphone, the Samsung Note 8 at an event in New York City today. This is the company’s first Note handset in two years since the Samsung Galaxy Note 7.

In terms of design, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 looks like a stretched out Samsung Galaxy S8+. What many of you will be more interested in are the specs, so here is everything you need to know about the official Galaxy Note 8 specs.

Processor:

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 has the same processor as the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+. Samsung has opted for the 2.3GHz Exynos 8895 / 2.15GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor combination for different variants of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8. These are 10nm chips with Gigabit LTE Cat.16 support.

RAM:

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is beefed up in the RAM department. It’s the first flagship smartphone from Samsung to ship with 6GB of RAM globally. Samsung has previously limited 6GB RAM variants of its flagship handsets to select markets.

Front Camera:

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 features an 8-megapixel front camera with f/1.9 aperture, autofocus and support for QHD video recording. We can expect it to be marginally better than the Samsung Galaxy S8’s front camera.

Rear Camera:

This is where the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 truly differentiates itself from Samsung’s flagship lineup. It’s the company’s first smartphone with a dual camera system.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 has a 12-megapixel primary f/1.7 aperture camera with wide-angle lens and a secondary 12 megapixel f/2.4 aperture camera with a telephoto lens. The handset has Dual Optical Image Stabilization and offers 10x digital zoom.

The dual camera system enables users to add a bokeh effect to their photos that they can adjust when the picture is being taken and even after it has been taken. The Dual Capture Mode enables them to save one image in both the bokeh and wide angle formats.

Additional Specs:

Customers get 64GB of internal storage and support for microSD cards of up to 256GB. The handset is powered by Android 7.1.1 Nougat and will be the first to receive an update to Android 8.0 Oreo. It comes with a new S Pen that’s can even be used when the screen is wet.

It has a 3,300mAh battery with support for fast wired and wireless charging. Samsung Pay, fingerprint sensor, Bixby, heart rate sensor, iris scanner, USB Type-C port, and IP68 dust and water resistance.

Samsung Rolls Out Bixby Voice Preview, For Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+

Droid Life posted earlier today the Bixby Voice preview was live to those who had signed up for the Early Access Program last week.

Sure enough, Bixby Voice Preview appeared in the settings after updating a few apps through the Galaxy Apps Store, as Droid Life originally reported. I went through the setup process and all seems to be working well after setting up Bixby Voice wake-up.

If you've signed up for the Bixby Voice Preview, let us know what you think so far. Is Bixby a compelling alternative to Google's new assistant?

Samsung's Galaxy S8 And S8 Plus' Separate App Sound, How It Works

Samsung's Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S8+ will also have a Bluetooth Dual audio feature dubbed "Separate app sounds". This allows the phone to stream audio to two Bluetooth headsets or speakers simultaneously while still allowing the user to independently control each device. Bluetooth 5.0 is twice as fast as the current standard (Bluetooth 4.2), and it offers four times the range.

That means it can connect to compatible tech like smartwatches or smart home devices that are up to 240 meters (800 feet) away. Bluetooth 5.0 is expected to further advance the internet of things (IoT) experience, and Samsung’s Galaxy S8 and Samsung Galaxy S8+ is the first phone to offer this feature.

Samsung Galaxy S8 And S8+ Home Button Moves, To Prevent Screen Burn-In

It seems Samsung has taken the same route with the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+, though not with the entire display. The new on-screen home button shifts around a little bit to prevent burn-in.
The new on screen home button shifts around a little bit to prevent burn-in. Though the home button is always at the bottom when in portrait you would see it in fullscreen or landscape apps if it burned into the screen, so this is a great move on Samsung’s part.
