Google Sync For BlackBerry End Of Life

It's springtime, and you know what that means for Google: out with the old and in with the new. Unfortunately, many BlackBerry fans might not like how Google's rearranging the furniture. During its routine tradition, the company announced that Google Sync for the BlackBerry will no longer be available for download as of June 1st. 


Put simply, the company identified its app as redundant, as RIM provides the same contact and calendar sync services to its customers with native software. Also in the spirit of spring cleaning, Google is encouraging users to uninstall the Sync app and properly configure their BlackBerry handsets to take advantage of these services. Fortunately, those content to keep with the status quo will be glad to know that Google Sync will continue to function properly -- so even if you're feeling lazy on this fine day, it's all good. HTC One S Release Date Set For April 25, Available From T-Mobile For $199

The HTC One S for T-Mobile will be released on April 25, officially announced the carrier in a press release. Getting your hands on one will cost you $199 after a $50 mail-in rebate and requires your signature under a 2-year service agreement. The smartphone will be available in select T-Mobile retail stores across the nation, as well as at the carrier's online store.

Sprint's Galaxy Nexus Pre-Order Stock Sold Out Online

Only three days after being announced, pre-orders for Sprint's version of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus have already sold out. The current Sprint page for the Nexus says that pre-order inventory is gone, but that more phones will be available on April 22nd, when the phone is released in stores. The Sprint version of the phone seems identical to the Verizon one, with 32GB of internal storage and a 1.2GHz processor; it comes out to $199.99 with a two-year contract.

AT&T Fires Up Three New LTE Markets

AT&T today announced that Akron and Canton, Ohio, and Lafayette, Ind., are now live with LTE coverage. These markets were announced as part of a general LTE network expansion earlier this month, but hadn't previously been given a launch date. AT&T customers in these three markets can now access and use the company's LTE 4G network with the appropriate devices.

Maintenance Update For Motorola Droid 4

Verizon Wireless has revealed the details of a system update for the Motorola Droid 4. The update does not bump the phone to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, but provides a number of tweaks and fixes to the phone's performance. Some of the improvements include better battery life, better Wi-Fi performance, more reliable visual voicemail and messaging notifications, and fewer device lockups. The update can be downloaded and installed over the air. Verizon will push the update out over the next few weeks, though users can initiate the update on their own.

Oracle Mulled Buying Palm And BlackBerry Maker RIM

While Oracle is in a hefty battle against the likes of Google now, there was once a time when they had played with the idea of seeking to purchase RIM and even Palm to take on Google and Apple. As noted by Oracle Corp Chief Executive Larry Ellison, Oracle spent quite a bit of time weighing out their options only to ultimately decide that it was a bad idea.

An interesting situation to say the least especially when you consider this all supposedly happened before HP took over Palm. We know now that RIM is open to options but it makes you wonder what would have happened if Oracle approached RIM back when Mike Lazaridis and Jim Balsillie were still heading up the day-to-day operations.

BlackBerry Flagship Store Coming To Dubai



While RIM's current fortunes are making plenty of execs nervously tug at their ties, there's still plenty of people cheerfully tapping away on BlackBerry keyboards, especially in the Middle East. It makes at least some sense, then, to launch a big ole' flagship shop in Dubai. Teaming up with local carrier Axiom Telecom, the handset manufacturer is in the final negotiation stages for a 1,500 square-foot store. According to RIM, it's the first of several planned for the region and should mean plenty of places to snap up one of those expensive BlackBerry Porsche models on your next overseas trip.

AT&T Refreshes Prepaid Data Pricing, Offering 1GB For $25

AT&T today announced a net set of prices for customers of its GoPhone prepaid service. Starting April 22, customers can get 50MB of data per month for $5, 200MB for $15, or 1GB for $25. The data packages may be added to the GoPhone $50 unlimited talk and text plan for smartphones, and the $25 unlimited text with 250 minutes GoPhone plan.

AT&T Sets Date for HTC One X Launch

AT&T today announced that it will launch HTC's One X on May 6th for $200. Pre-orders begin April 22nd.
