Android 4.1 Released To AOSP

Android Open Source Project technical lead Jean-Baptiste Queru has announced the source for the newest version of the OS, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean will be made available today. Currently, binaries are available for the Nexus 7 and Galaxy Nexus, with Nexus S and Motorola Xoom versions promised soon. As usual, this gets the countdown started for more manufacturers to work on builds for their devices and means third party coders like CyanogenMod can dive in as well. One other thing we should be used to by now is a warning that it still may take some time for things to go live as the code is replicated. Nexus S Ice Cream Sandwich Update Rumored To Be Starting Up Again

Wondering when you'll finally get to enjoy a tasty bite of Ice Cream Sandwich? Google is not abandoning you, and that an official Android 4.0 update for last year's Nexus is expected to drop in the next few weeks -- for reals this time. We'll keep you posted as we find out more, but for now there's always the do it yourself route if you're rocking the AWS model. Google originally began rolling out ICS to the Nexus S back in mid-December, but the push was paused shortly thereafter. Owners of the Nexus S 4G on Sprint haven't even gotten a shot at an Android 4.0 update. So it's good to hear that those users may finally be getting an official ICS bump soon.

Google Employees testing Nexus S Ice Cream Sandwich?

With Google’s Galaxy Nexus currently out of the picture, we’re left to wonder what will be the Now Network’s first device to taste sweet Ice Cream Sandwich? We can all speculate as much as we want, but your name doesn’t have to be Captain Obvious to figure that it will most likely be the Nexus S 4G. A recent string of tweets from a Google employee has all but confirmed that Google is already working on such a treat.

According to Android Police, the folks from Mountain View have been taking their work home. Before you start feeling sorry for Google’s employees, it should be noted that their assignment is said to be troubleshooting an over-the-air Ice Cream Sandwich push for the Nexus S.
