Virgin Mobile To Sell iPhone Starting June 29th

Today, Virgin Mobile announced that it will start offering iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S on Friday, June 29, with its Beyond Talk no-contract unlimited data and messaging plans starting at $35 on the Sprint Nationwide Network.

Even more exciting, customers can bring their payment to as low as $30 per month by setting up automatic payments through a credit card, debit card or PayPal account.

“This month marks Virgin Mobile USA’s tenth birthday,” said Sir Richard Branson, founder of Virgin Group. “And what better way to thank our fans for 10 years of loyalty than by giving them exactly what they want: the perfect plan for the perfect phone. That is the essence of ‘A Higher Calling.’”

iPhone 4 on Virgin Mobile will cost $549.99 for the 8GB model and iPhone 4S will be $649.99 for the 16GB model; each model will be available in either black or white.

On Virgin Mobile, iPhone will require no contract and no activation or roaming fees and, as of June 29, will be available to new and existing customers at www.virginmobileusa.com, at Radio Shack, Best Buy and select local retailers. Customers can also turn their Virgin Mobile iPhone into a mobile hotspot for an additional $15 per month.

Sprint launched iPhone in October 2011 and sold 3.3 million devices through the end of the first quarter 2012.

HTC EVO V 4G Will Launch May 31 On Virgin Mobile

Previous rumors regarding a launch of the HTC EVO 3D on prepaid Sprint MVNO Virgin Mobile have now been confirmed. The device will be rebranded the HTC EVO V 4G and take advantage of Virgin Mobile's new 4G Beyond Talk plans.

The prepaid carrier will make use of Sprint and Clearwire's WiMAX network to offer unlimited 4G data, along with unlimited text and 300 voice minutes, all for $35/month. The device will sell for $299.99 with no commitment.

Interestingly enough, Sprint implies in its press release that the EVO V 4G will launch with Ice Cream Sandwich and Sense 3.6. Hopefully, this means that Sprint-branded EVO 3D handsets will also receive the update before May 31.

Sprint To Extend WiMax Device Roster To Boost And Virgin

Sprint said today during a call with reporters that it intends to offer its WiMax 4G network to its Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile USA pre-paid businesses. Sprint CEO Dan Hesse said that the service would launch for Boost and Virgin later this year, though he didn't provide specific details regarding timing nor the handsets involved. Sprint has a number of WiMax handsets still in service while it transitions to LTE 4G. Sprint has already made several LTE-capable handsets for sale, though its LTE network isn't expected to launch until mid-year. Sprint mentioned earlier this year that it will no longer sell WiMax handsets to its own customers.

PocketESN For Android Checks The Status Of A Phones ESN

The folks at Cunning Logic have released their latest Android application PocketESN. Cellular networks that utilize CDMA technology, such as Verizon, Sprint, Boost Mobile, Virgin Mobile, StraightTalk, Tracfone, and Cricket, all use ESN numbers to blacklist stolen or unpaid devices. For example, if you fail to keep your Sprint contract, your device’s ESN number will automatically be blacklisted by the company. If blacklisted, a device cannot be used on the network anymore.
