Financial Times reports that Google’s Android team is working on a smartwatch. The report says the device would act as a companion to your smartphone, but there are not many details provided outside of that. Apple and Samsung are both working on smartwatches to be released later this year, so it shouldn't be much of a surprise to hear that Google is doing the same. A Google patent application from 2011 described a smartwatch with a dual-screened “flip-up display”, “tactile user interface,” and on board camera. All or none of those features could be included in the final design.
